Birthday Week projects – psychedelic floral mandala card

Crafter's Companion – 23/10/19

Welcome to the seventh installment of our Birthday Week projects! This project series has been designed to help you get the most out of your free gifts and provide a little bit of inspiration for your future crafting.

For day seven, we’re talking about the Floral Mandala Stencil, which you’re able to get your hands on today (October 23rd) if you spend over £10 on the site. This stencil features a gorgeous mandala with floral detailing to help you create ethereal backgrounds or the base for some funky fussy cutting.

Take a look at this step-by-step to see how to create a card like the one below, plus an extra suggestion of how to use the die at the end!

You will need:

Step 1

Working on the Neenah Classic Crest Card, secure the stencil in place with Low Tack Tape.

Step 2

Use the Parakeet and Fuchsia Water Reactive Inkpads and a Blending Tool to add ink through the stencil. Where the colours blend together, it will create purple!

Step 3

Once inked and dry, cut this panel to 4.5″ x 6.5″ and adhere on to black card measuring 4.75″ x 6.75″.

Step 4

Cut a pennant from both the Solar White Card and the black card, then layer together.

Step 5

Using the inkpads, blend on to more Solar White Card and cut the sentiment from it. Cut the sentiment from black card too, then mat and layer the two together.

Step 6

Add both the pennant and the sentiment to your card using 3D Glue Gel.

Step 7

Tie a small bow with black twine and add to the upper left corner of the pennant.

Step 8

Add some co-ordinating gems in the bottom right corner and adhere this whole panel on to 5″ x 7″ card blank.

We love a rustic look here at Crafter’s Companion, so we’re totally in love with this Kraft and ivory colour combination. It’s the perfect way to introduce the mandala into your project without it being too bold or loud.

Make sure you show us your completed cards on FacebookTwitter or Instagram using the hashtag #crafterscompanion. You could even show us how you customise the design to suit you!
