The Christmas festivities have come to an end and we’re looking positively into a new year, but we know that this can often be a difficult time for some. Whether you’re returning to work, trying to get back into a routine or just fulfilling your New Year’s resolutions, crafting can really take your mind off the pressures of daily life.
Keep it cheerful this Blue Monday with our top five tips to craft your way through.
1. Get creative and colourful with Spectrum Noir
Colouring isn’t just for kids. In fact, there’s been a huge surge in the adult colouring trend over the past few years and it’s no surprise!
It’s been said that colouring can be massively beneficial for mental health and to those looking to practise mindfulness, as it relaxes your brain by making you concentrate on one thing and can even put you into a meditative state.
Here at Crafter’s Companion, we have a wide range of Discovery Kits and Colouring Kits, with both intricate and simple designs. You’re guaranteed to find one that you love!
Looking to develop artistic, seamless blended effects with your colouring? Check out the Spectrum Noir range which includes high-quality alcohol markers and watercolour mediums that can take your colouring to the next level! Not sure where to start? Check out our colouring guide here
2. Host a Crafternoon
What’s better than an afternoon filled with crafts and chatter? Helping others whilst you do it!
Mental health charity Mind has hosted Crafternoons for 6 years, where thousands of people across the UK would host afternoon events either online or at home, in a cafe or another venue, get crafty and raise money for the charity at the same time.
In fact, in 2020 our very own Sara hosted a virtual crafternoon in the middle of the Covid19 pandemic to raise awareness of Mind whilst getting people crafting and connecting.
Why not host your own, get crafting and meet new people?
3. Create a mindfulness card
Sending someone a card to remind them that you’re thinking of them can be really rewarding, but even more so when it’s homemade.
Whether it’s a simple ‘thinking of you’ card or an inspirational quote to motivate someone this Blue Monday, we’ve got everything you need. From cardstock and paper to ink pads, pens, embellishments, metal dies and even motivational quote stamps, you can create a beautiful card that is as detailed as you want it to be.
